Finding do follow blogs is a little bit hard because you have to look in the source page of the blog. The source page is a page with language program behind the interface of blog template.
If you are using Firefox browser you view the source page by clicking; View menu then source page. When it displayed you must search the rel code like the code below:
rel="no follow". (By default all blogs rel set to be no follow.)
If you find that code it's mean that links at the comment form will not be follow by the Search Engines spider crawl. By far, it's mean that you are not getting back link from this blog, even if you commenting on its each post.
I know it is difficult to search the do follow blogs by viewing the source page. But there are some programs that can find do follow blog without messing your head. I personally use Fast Blog Finder for hunt do follow blogs to comment on.
You have to download and install this program before using it. After you have installed it on your computer you will see the easy to understand interface. Like any other program interface you'll find menu toolbar above the fold.
With this software you can find do follow blog and commenting on it without opening you browser. That is the feature of this software that I love. Also you can search blogs by keyword that suited your blog niche keywords.
If you want jump straight to hunt the do follow blog, here are the things you should do:
1. Type the keyword of the blogs that you want to find at the left up side of this software. After you hit the enter button you can see the right side field being loaded.
2. Wait for a few second until all the blogs links finished loading. Then you'll see there are 3 different colors on the blog links row. (You can adjust the color in the setting menu). By default this program viewing red row for link of the blogs that have no follow rel and green for do follow blogs.

3. And then you must click the link of the do follow blog that you want to comment on. The blog will appear on the bottom field of the screen. After it has finished loading, you can read its post and make a comment about the post on each do follow blogs.That's it...
Do the above things over for each do follow blog links. And wait for search engine robots to follow your anchor link from do follow blogs that you have commented. Then you have backlinks from them.
Note: the free edition is only crawled 50 lists for each keyword that you want to find. I recommended using the free edition first, after you have familiar and find this software benefit you can upgrade it into gold edition.

Sometimes it is easier to just look for do follow by searching for lists of them in google. People have put together good lists of high pr blogs to comment on.

As to me best way for SEO is finding dofollow blogs with interesting for You info and leave good comments that will bring value to blog. No spam, no stupid comments, so there will be not so much links as spammers have but quality will be higher and also links will not be removed so often, :)
